Yesterday I wrote a blog post about using store coupons to get great discounts. These are awesome ways to save because they can usually be combined with manufacturer coupons. The store coupons usually offer either a certain dollar amount off a minimum purchase or a certain percentage off your total. By combining store coupons with manufacturer coupons, sales, and markdowns, you can truly save a substantial amount on groceries, health and beauty items, paper goods, beverages, and just anything else sold in a grocery store.
So where do you find these coupons? Store websites and newsletters are the best place to start. I will make a list with links below to some of the most common stores who offer these coupons. Make sure you read each coupon carefully to see if you are supposed to use your coupon before manufacturer's coupons are taken off the total or after. This is very important and will affect how you shop.
Make sure that you sign up for e-mail notifications from retailers. You can get a "junk" e-mail address from places like Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail so your regular inbox isn't clogged with these offers. Also, if you have a Facebook account, follow your favorite retailers on Facbook to get special discounts and codes.
Here are some links to some of the more common places that offer discounts:
Family Dollar Usually $5 off $25. These are sent by email but can sometimes be found on the coupon page. The signup for the e-mail alert is on the home page.
Dollar General $5 off $25 on Saturday, 10/13/2012. This changes weekly, so check back often.
Fred's Super Dollar Usually $5 off $25 on Saturdays with coupon that comes in an email but may sometimes be found online. Also, Fred's doubles coupons up to $0.70 on Saturdays.
Save-a-Lot Stores: $5 off $25 with link to print sent via e-mail This is a link to the main page. Sign up for the newsletter, and the discounts will come to your e-mail address.
Ulta Cosmetics Stores $5 off $10 purchase. Sign up for the e-mail notification, as these coupons are usually only good for a couple of days.
Price Chopper These are variable. This is a link to their Facebook page, to the coupon section, but also check the store's website.
Staples Sign up for e-mail alerts, and these will come to your inbox. Bottom of the home page on the left-hand side. Most of these coupons are also good for online purchases. This is a great way to save on toner cartridges, paper, and other office supplies.
Drugstore.com $5 off $25 purchase from Facebook offer Sign up for emails.
There are many, many more, but these are some of the most common.
EDITED TO ADD:
CVS Stores: CVS has store rewards and will also send discount coupons/codes via e-mail.
Walgreens: Walgreen's will e-mail discount coupons/codes for both regular store items and photo items. The photo items can be very good deals because they will have offers for free items, such as a free 8x 10.
